Getting Started

  • Safe Pathways is an all-in-one safeguarding platform for Canadian churches—combining volunteer training, insurance-specific policies, background check tracking, automated workflows, and evidence reporting in one place.

  • Churches know what safeguarding requires. The problem is getting it consistently done—references completed, training finished, policies acknowledged, records organized. Safe Pathways automates the implementation so nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Book a demo. Once you sign up, you’ll complete a short church profile, receive your policy suite and resources, and start onboarding volunteers. Most churches are up and running within a week.

Training

  • Under 20 minutes per pathway. Volunteers only learn what’s relevant to their role.

  • Short, role-specific training tracks: Introduction, Babies & Toddlers, Children, Youth, Vulnerable Adults, and Comprehensive. Each includes video and a quiz.

  • Yes. Watch Party lets you show training in a group setting with printed quizzes and sign-in sheets, while recording individual completion for each attendee.

  • Safe Pathways keeps a permanent record and automatically reminds volunteers when it’s time to renew.

  • Yes. Every pathway ends with a quiz that requires 100% to pass. If a volunteer gets a question wrong, the platform links them directly to the section of the video that covers that concept. They watch it, then try again.

  • Yes. Annual refresher training is required to keep credentials current. The platform tracks expiry dates and sends reminder emails automatically. Because returning volunteers can jump straight to the quiz and only review what they've forgotten, refreshers are much faster than the first time through.

Policies

  • We’ve built a complete safeguarding policy for each major Canadian church insurer. You receive the one that matches your insurer. It contains exactly what’s required. Plus optional clauses and editable resources like consent forms and board resolutions.

  • Safe Pathways is compliant with Robertson Hall Insurance. Policies custom-aligned for Ecclesiastical, Intact, Northbridge, Co-operators are being added.

  • Yes. Everything is yours to edit and keep—even if you leave. No approval required. No membership paywall.

Switching Programs

  • If your current program charges annual membership fees plus per-person training costs, requires 2+ hours of training per volunteer, locks your policies behind a membership, or requires approval before you can edit your own safeguarding documents. Safe Pathways offers a modern alternative where you own everything and pay one transparent price.

  • We help import your volunteer data. Because our pathways are under 20 minutes, even starting fresh isn’t a heavy lift.

  • A policy document is a start, but a policy on paper only serves your church if it’s actually implemented. Safe Pathways gives you the right policy for your insurer and then automates the implementation.

Technical

  • Yes. When connected, your people/volunteer info can sync into Safe Pathways so you don’t have to manually create accounts or re‑enter data.

  • Churches can order police checks through Safe Pathways and see pass/clear status and the report inside the platform.

  • Data is stored on Canadian cloud servers in compliance with Canadian privacy laws, monitored around the clock to ensure ongoing safety, and protected by advanced security tools. PIPEDA compliant, Safe Pathways conducts regular system updates help defend against new cyber threats, giving you peace of mind about your personal information.

Pricing

  • $14.99/volunteer/year (1–99 seats), $12.99 (100–299), $9.99 (300+). Everything included. Volume and denominational pricing available. Learn more about pricing here.

  • Any volunteer serving directly with children, youth, or vulnerable adults. Admin access for staff is included at no extra cost.
